CROWLEY — Acadia Parish officials on Tuesday released the identification of a man who was shot and killed in Crowley during an argument Monday night.
The Sheriff’s Office said Edgar Eugene Belveal, 32, who lived in Westwood Apartments in Crowley, was involved in a “conversation” with another man that grew to a “disturbance” then a shooting that left Belveal dead.
Sheriff’s detectives booked Henry Lawrence Leger, 50, into the Acadia Parish Jail on Monday night on one count of second-degree murder, spokeswoman Maxine Trahan said in a news release. Bond has been set at $250,000.
The shooting occurred at Leger’s residence in the 500 block of Conrad Road in Crowley. Trahan said Belveal drove to Leger’s home to talk to him, the release stated. The release did not state what the conversation was about.
Trahan said Leger did not put up a struggle when deputies arrested him Monday.
