A marketing workshop will be held Wednesday in Abbeville for fishermen and other seafood merchants interested in exporting their Louisiana bounty outside the United States.

The workshop starts at 8 a.m. at the LSU Agricultural Center, 1105 West Port St.

Seafood and trade experts along with personnel from the Department of Commerce, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Louisiana Sea Grant and the Southern U.S. Trade Association will be present to answer questions from workshop attendees.

Admission is free, but preregistration is required.

Dance on Saturday

Those who like to dance and those who like to watch others dance will have a good time at 6 p.m. Saturday in downtown Lafayette.

The celebration will be part of National Dance Day, put on locally by dance professionals and enthusiasts, and will last one hour.

Soccer registration

The Lafayette Youth Soccer Association will begin holding its annual fall soccer sign-ups on Saturday.

The first registration will be Wednesday at both Academy Sports locations in Lafayette, on Ambassador Caffery Parkway and on Louisiana Avenue. Registration is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is for adults and those ages 3 to 18.

Players also can sign up from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Aug. 3 at Not Just Soccer on Johnston Street, and at Moore Park, off North University Avenue north of Interstate 10.

Registration is open to all Lafayette Parish residents.

Boater safety course

Boaters in St. Mary Parish can attend an all-day boater education course Saturday.

The free course, taught by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, is required by law for anyone who was born after Jan. 1, 1984, who operates a boat with a motor bigger than 10 horsepower.

The course will be taught at the Patterson Civic Center from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

No registration is required.

Food truck rally

Iberia Bank will host a food truck rally from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at its branch at 332 Settlers Trace to benefit FoodNet The Greater Acadiana Food Bank.

‘Tintamarre’ screening

Vermilionville will hold its monthly cultural film screening Monday by showing the documentary “Tintamarre — On the Trail of Acadians in North America.”

The viewing starts at 6:30 p.m. at Vermilionville.

Admission is free, but a $5 donation is suggested.
