LAFAYETTE — A Texas man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for conspiring to receive and distribute child pornography.
U.S. District Judge Elizabeth Foote sentenced Juan Carlos Curiel, 22, on Wednesday after the Missouri City, Texas, man pleaded guilty on April 12, U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley said in a news release.
Finley said investigators found 30 images and videos of child pornography on Curiel’s email system, then found more than 100 images and videos after searching his home on Oct. 5, 2011.
Finley said Curiel admitted to downloading the files from an online file-sharing program.
U.S. Department of Homeland Security agents investigated the case that was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys John Luke Walker and Howard C. Parker.
