Lafayette teachers of the year named Lafayette teachers of the year named Advocate staff report April 24, 2013 Comments LAFAYETTE — Lafayette Parish Schools Superintendent Pat Cooper and Assistant Superintendent Sandra Billeaudeau surprised three teachers Tuesday morning with news of the teachers’ selection as district elementary, middle and high school teachers of the year. Selected as 2012-13 teachers of the year were: Sarah Malagarie, a fourth-grade teacher at S.J. Montgomery Elementary; Heather Olson, an eighth-grade math teacher at Edgar Martin Middle School; and Rosey Kyle, a biology teacher at David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy. The annual recognition precedes a regional selection of winners to compete for the honor of Louisiana Teacher of the Year, which will be announced this summer. Finalists for parish teacher of the year included: Amy Breaux of Northside High, Bonita St. Julien of the Career Center, Nick Richert of Lafayette High, Cindy Tharpe of Comeaux High, Renella Henry of Alice Boucher Elementary, Marissa Miller of J. Wallace James Elementary, Kim Landry of Broadmoor Elementary, Tara Stoute Prejean of Duson Elementary, Ivy Wiltz of Acadian Middle, André Deshotel of Judice Middle, Amy DesOrmeaux of Lafayette Middle and Nicole Holden of Milton Middle.
