Douglas Hebert, 33, was driving his 2000 Buick Lesabre on Alberson Parkway when the traffic light signaled that only drivers turning right onto U.S. 90 had the green light, and Hebert drove straight through the intersection, the Broussard police said in a news release. Hebert’s car was broadsided by a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Chris Henderson, 53, of Lafayette, police said. Henderson sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital, the release stated. Broussard police said “it appears” Hebert was not wearing a seat belt and it was unknown if alcohol impairment played a role in the accident that remains under investigation.
