Casey Robertson, 26, was driving a Ford truck south on Evangeline Thruway when he ran a red light and hit a Chevrolet car turning onto the Thruway from East Kaliste Saloom Road, Lafayette police said in a news release. The driver of the car, a 61-year-old man from Alabama, was killed, police said. Police have not released the identity of the victim, citing difficulty Friday in contacting his next of kin. Robertson is being held on one count each of vehicular homicide, OWI, driving under suspension and disobeying a red signal light, police said. The accident occurred at 1:45 a.m.
