LAFAYETTE — The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Festival of the Arts 2013 begins Thursday and will feature exhibits, an art walk, fashion show, demonstrations, talks and a career day for architecture students.
At 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Acadiana Center for the Arts, the official kickoff event for the week long festival begins with ArTech Fusion 13, a presentation of music, animation, poetry, traditional music, dance, fine art and film featuring elements of technology. At the event, Ray McIntyre Jr., a visual digital effects artist and supervisor at Pixel Magic, will receive the College of the Arts’ Spark Lifetime Achievement Award.
A raffle of artwork by 13 Department of Visual Arts professors will serve as a fundraiser for the College of the Arts. Works will be on display through Friday in Fletcher Hall, Room 202. Raffle tickets are $5 and are available at the event or in Fletcher Hall, Room 205.
Tickets for ArTech Fusion 13 are $5 for UL-Lafayette students, $10 for faculty and $20 for the public.

Friday: Architecture and Design Career Fair from 9:30 a.m. to noon for UL Lafayette design students in Fletcher Hall, Room 101.
March 9: Downtown Lafayette Second Saturday Art Walk begins at 6:30 p.m. with an opening reception for the School of Architecture and Design’s juried student exhibit at downtown galleries. ArTech Fusion also begins at the Acadiana Center for the Arts at 6:30 p.m.
March 10: D3 Unbuilt Visions exhibit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Fletcher Hall, second floor.
March 11: School of Architecture Design and Fashion Show at 6:30 p.m. in Fletcher Hall, Room 134.
March 12: Marais Press Steamroller Printmaking demonstration from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Fletcher Hall atrium.
March 13: 3-D Atelier with raku firing, wheel throwing and cuttlebone casting demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Fletcher Hall, second floor.
March 14: Performance Space: Identity in Architecture, a review of public art installations and architectural work at 11:30 a.m. at the LITE Center.
March 15: Louisiana Sporting Clay tournament at 11:30 a.m. at the Wilderness Gun Club, a fundraising event for architecture students.
