Technology takes role of villian in play

— Technology plays the villain in Wanderlust Theatre’s “You’ve Got Hate Mail” with performances through Sunday and picks up again Feb. 22 and 23 at Theatre 810 in downtown Lafayette.

Described by the production company as a “hilarious broadband comedy of errors,” the plot is told through misdirected emails, text messages and cell phone calls. It contains adult language and situations intended for mature audiences. The ensemble cast features Steven Cooper, Cara Hayden, Elaine Kibodeaux, M. Brady McKellar and Elizabeth Satterly. Elsa Dimitriadis directs.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday and at 8 p.m. Feb. 22 and 23 at Theatre 810 at 810 Jefferson St.

Tickets are $10 and may be reserved at (337) 484-0172 or online at: http://hatemail.eventbrite.com.

Those who write a “Dear John/Jane” letter and present it at the box office will receive $1 discount. Patrons are encouraged to keep the letters anonymous as the production company plans to post them.

March 13 deadline set for ULL class rings

University of Louisiana at Lafayette seniors who want to take part in this semester’s ring ceremony in April must order their rings by March 13. The date for the April ceremony has not been confirmed.

Alumni and students who have completed at least 90 credit hours are eligible to order rings.

The university unveiled its first official ring in September and held its first ring ceremony in November.

About 600 friends and family were on hand for the inaugural event and the ceremony will likely become a tradition each spring and fall.

An alum or student who owns an older UL-Lafayette ring —manufactured by any company — can send it to Balfour before Sept. 1, to have it made into an official university ring at no cost.
