St. Thomas More picks Lavergne to lead it

The board of pastors at St. Thomas More Catholic High School announced Tuesday that it selected Richard Lavergne as the school’s next leader as of July 1.

Lavergne retires as superintendent of St. Martin Parish schools on June 30.

He replaces Audrey Menard, who joined the school in July 2010.

During her tenure, Menard led the school’s efforts to integrate technology into the curriculum and implemented a one-to-one laptop program in which each student uses a laptop computer for classroom instruction rather than textbooks.

Lavergne has been superintendent of St. Martin Parish schools since 2007 and an educator for more than 29 years.

The school’s chancellor, the Rev. Louis J. Richard, announced Lavergne’s appointment in a letter to addressed to the school community Tuesday.
