Homeowner shot during home invasion
LAFAYETTE — Two masked gunmen kicked in the door of a Dulles Drive home Thursday night and shot the homeowner in the shoulder in a hallway, police said Friday.
The homeowner was transported to a hospital after the home invasion at 11 p.m., Lafayette police said in a news release.
The homeowner, who was not identified in the news release, said electronic devices and a cellphone were stolen, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.

BROUSSARD — Police are searching for a man who robbed a woman at knifepoint Thursday night in the parking lot of the Shop Rite convenience store in the 4100 block of U.S. 90.
The woman gave the robber $4 and he ran away, according to a news release from Broussard Police.
The victim described the robber as a white man of medium build, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and wearing blue jeans, a plaid shirt and a white or yellow hat, according to the news release.

2-year-old dies from injuries in car cash
LAFAYETTE — A 2-year-old boy who was in a Moss Street vehicle crash involving a suspected drunken driver has died, Lafayette police said.
Kylan Jackson, of Opelousas, died at a Baton Rouge hospital Thursday, police said late Friday afternoon. A 33-year-old man, who has not been identified, was driving the 2002 GMC Sierra in which Kylan was riding when they were hit by a possible drunken driver, police said.
The man is in stable condition at a hospital, Lafayette Sgt. Paul Mouton said. Mouton said he didn’t know if Kylan and the man were related.
Lafayette police upgraded one of the counts against Jamuse Broussard, 23, to vehicular homicide. Broussard also was booked on counts of drunken driving, vehicular negligent injury and failure to yield, police said.
The crash occurred on Moss Street at approximately 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, when Broussard turned in front of the vehicles containing the victims, police said.
