Traffic will be diverted onto Ambassador Caffery to West Willow Street while the road remains closed, Lafayette police Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a news release. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area until the road reopens. On Dec. 18, Shirley Johnson, 66, of San Antonio, suffered a medical emergency prior to crashing her vehicle at the location and later died at a hospital, police have said.
