Community college to aid enrolling students
LAFAYETTE — South Louisiana Community College has extended its office hours to assist students interested in registering for fall courses, college officials said Thursday.
Through Aug. 24, the student services office will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the college’s Devalcourt Street campus. Offices will also be open on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fall semester begins Monday, Aug. 20.
New students must meet with an on-campus adviser before they will be able to register for classes via the online registration system. This week, the registration process has been slowed because of problems with LoLA, the Louisiana Community and Technical College System’s new online registration system.
Students who experience problems with the online system will be directed to call a help line, SLCC spokeswoman Christine Payton said.
“We are trying to accommodate the students as much as possible and help them get through the process,” she said.
