Lafayette man indicted in stabbing death
LAFAYETTE — A grand jury Wednesday indicted a Lafayette man in the February stabbing death of Alex Castillo.
Soamer N. Rivera-Soriano, 25, allegedly stabbed Castillo, 19, of Opelousas, outside of Café Habana, authorities have said.
The stabbing occurred during the early morning hours of Feb. 4 after the two men exited the business at closing time, authorities have said.
Two police officers working outside the business at 911 Bertrand Drive chased Rivera-Soriano and captured him about a block away, authorities have said.
The cause of the disturbance has not been released.
A grand jury charged Rivera-Soriano with one count of second-degree murder.
If convicted, Rivera-Soriano, 3603 Congress St. Apt. 221, Lafayette, faces an automatic life sentence.
