$64,000 recovered from robbery suspect
Authorities recovered $64,000 from the home of a suspected bank robber, who was arrested last week in connection with the Feb. 8 robbery of United Mississippi Bank in Melville, an official said Monday.
The Amarillo Police Department arrested Tyrone D. Byers, 32, Thursday on a warrant out of St. Landry Parish, said Jimmy Darbonne, spokesman for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
On the day of his arrest, detectives also executed a search warrant at Byers’ home at 1200 Allen St., Nachitoches, where they recovered the money.
Darbonne would not say how much was stolen from the bank, although he did confirm it to be more than what was recovered.
The Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation at the request of Melville Police Chief John McKeel, Darbonnne said in a news release.
Meanwhile, the Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help in locating two people of interest in the robbery, Darbonne said.
David Pooler, 32, is believed to be from the Baton Rouge area.
Trevon Haile, 30, is believed to be from Texas.
Anyone with information as to their whereabouts is asked to call (337) 594-8565 or St. Landry Crime Stoppers at (337) 948-8477.
