Lupus conference
at ULL on Thursday
LAFAYETTE — The National Association of Black Journalists at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will hold a lupus conference from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in the Student Union.
The one-day conference, “The Many Faces of Lupus: What We Know and Don’t Know About the Disease,” will feature presenters, workshops and panel discussions.
Darla Montgomery, anchor for KLFY-TV10, will moderate the opening ceremonies. Featured speakers include Dr. James Lipstate, a rheumatologist and lupus specialist, and Sharon Johnson, a lupus survivor and member of the Louisiana Lupus Foundation.
The event is free and open to the public.
Deadline March 15 for arts scholarship
LAFAYETTE — The deadline to apply for the L. Hill Bonin Jr. Memorial Scholarship award, administered by the Performing Arts Society of Acadiana, is March 15.
The award is available for high school and college students pursuing short-time educational and training opportunities in performing arts or arts administration. Nonprofit organizations or groups that propose performing arts productions or activities that benefit high school or college students are also eligible to apply.
Completed forms and all attachments must be submitted to the PASA office by 5 p.m. on March 15 to qualify for the 2012/13 scholarships. To request scholarship guidelines and an application, visit www.pasa-online.org or call PASA at (337) 237-2787, ext. 206.
Teacher workshop
set on Shakespeare
LAFAYETTE — The Acadiana Center for the Arts’ will offer a workshop, “Storytelling and Shakespeare: Find Your Frame,” for teachers of grades 5-12 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Registration for the workshop, which will be presented by Justin Zsebe, is $7 to $12.

ULL recruiter offers
high schoolers tips
NEW IBERIA — The Iberia Parish Main Library will offer a session at 6:30 p.m. Monday for high school students and parents to learn more about getting into college from a University of Louisiana at Lafayette enrollment recruiter.
The recruiter will offer tips and tools on issues such as financial aid and deadline requirements and answer questions.
