Subdivision proposed on Tiger Bend

Plans for Audubon Parc, a 47-lot subdivision off Tiger Bend Road, near Chippedale Drive, have been submitted to the city-parish Planning Commission.

Steve Cantu, who is developing Audubon Parc, said the plan is to build houses with 1,800 to 2,000 square feet of living area. The homes would be priced in the upper $200,000 to $400,000 range. Cantu’s company, Spear Contractors, would build the houses.

“These won’t be the average builder houses,” Cantu said. The homes will feature amenities such as extra crown molding, all brick or stucco exteriors, wood floors and varying ceiling heights.

“There will be the same construction in $500,000 homes, but in slightly smaller homes,” he said. By putting more money in construction, Cantu said he’ll be able to sell his houses faster, which will help him save on bank charges.

The homes will be built on a 12.5-acre tract that features Live Oak and mature Magnolia trees.

Audubon Parc is set to go before the city-parish Planning Commission on Sept. 15. If approved, it will be heard by the Metro Council on Oct. 15.

Cantu said he hopes to start building the first eight to 10 homes in the spring.
