SCIENCE ACADEMY: 10 a.m., Highland Road Park Observatory, 13800 Highland Road. This lecture will be about the science of storms. Admission is $5 for in-parish students and $6 for others.

KIDS’ LAB: 10:15 a.m., noon and 2 p.m., Louisiana Art & Science Museum, 100 River Road South. The theme for August for the children’s chemistry program is “A Hair Raising Experiment.” Admission is free for museum members and regular admission price for others.

ARTS FOR FAMILIES: 10:30 a.m., LSU Museum of Art, Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St. Families will draw inspiration from the colorful and energetic world of artist Leroy Neiman to create a series of projects celebrating the human body in motion. Admission is free for museum members and $3 for others. Parent participation required for children under age 6.

BREATHE EASY: 6 p.m., Varsity Theatre, 3353 Highland Road. The fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will feature Flow Tribe, Speakeasy, live art painting, silent auction and more. General admission is $35. VIP tickets are $80 and include food from Galatoire’s and an open bar.

SKY VIEWING: 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Highland Road Park Observatory, 13800 Highland Road. View the evening sky through the telescope, watch science demonstrations and enjoy a marshmallow roast. Admission is free.

“THE SHAPE OF THINGS”: 7:30 p.m., Theatre Baton Rouge, 7155 Florida Blvd. The play is a modern day retelling of the fall of man. It is rated R. Tickets are $22.

BATON ROUGE ADULT MUSIC CLUB: 8 p.m., Chelsea’s Cafe, 2857 Perkins Road. The club will perform songs by Led Zeppelin and lead a sing-a-long of early Beatles music. The Rakers, who used to be members of AMC, will also perform original songs.
