Buddy Roemer has 'small' stroke

Former Gov. Buddy Roemer suffered a “small” stroke recently but expects to make a full recovery, Roemer’s son Chas said Monday.

“He did have a small stroke about four weeks ago,” Chas Roemer told the Press Club of Baton Rouge.

“He has been back at work.”

Chas Roemer said that, while his father initially experienced some problems with his right hand, it is 90 percent normal now and his speech is normal.

Buddy Roemer, 70, was governor from 1988 to 1992 and was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1981 to 1988.
