BR man booked in attack on 91-year-old

A 21-year-old man accused of robbing a 91-year-old man at gunpoint in October and kicking him to the ground has been arrested.

The attack on the victim, whose ribs were broken, happened after Demetre Rosenberger and co-defendant Raynardo Mason, 24, followed the victim home Oct. 23 at about 9:40 p.m. from the Circle K convenience store at 3536 Drusilla Lane, the affidavit of probable cause says.

When the victim pulled into his driveway, Rosenberger and Mason pulled in behind him in a black Chevy Camaro, the affidavit says. Rosenberger pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet.

The victim, hoping to at least keep his wallet, began taking out the cash to hand to the robbers when Rosenberger kicked him, knocking him down and breaking some ribs before taking the wallet, the affidavit says.

Surveillance camera footage shows the Camaro leaving the victim’s subdivision about two minutes after entering that night, the affidavit says.

Rosenberger, 9696 Lewis St., Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of armed robbery and cruelty to the infirmed. Mason, who lived at 10546 Springbrook Drive, Baton Rouge, at the time of his arrest in 2013, faces an armed robbery count.

Child support filing leads to arrest

When an 18-year-old filed paperwork in 19th Judicial District Court in December against a 31-year-old man seeking child support for their 1-year-old son, prosecutors passed on the information to law enforcement.

Early Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies arrested the child’s father, Aldrick Jerome Banks, alleging the victim was only 16 when Banks had sex with her in a Baton Rouge hotel room in August 2011.

The baby was born on May 15, 2012.

The victim told deputies in December that Banks had moved to Georgia, but when she spoke to him before the warrant was issued on Dec. 30, she said he became angry that law enforcement was asking about their relationship and about her filing for child support, the arrest warrant says.

Banks, last known address of 6434 E. Central Ave., Zachary, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Caregiver accused of stealing $36,000

Baton Rouge police on Tuesday arrested a 28-year-old woman accused of stealing more than $36,000 from an 84-year-old man during her time as his caregiver.

From February 2013 to June 2014, Dominique Samone Beauchamp allegedly used the debit card numbers to pay for hotel rooms, airplane tickets, rental furniture and utility payments, among other things, according to the arrest warrant.

The victim’s son noticed the unauthorized payments while checking the account after his father died on May 11, the warrant says. The thefts continued after the victim died.

Beauchamp, 4013 Fairwoods Drive, Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of theft, theft of assets from an aged person, exploitation of the infirmed and unauthorized use of an access card.
