Nearly 6,500 community banks were eligible to be part of ICBA’s list. Community banks were chosen based on their engagement with fans and followers, the content distributed on their social media platforms, the number of fans and/or followers they have, and the frequency of posting new content. BATON ROUGE AREA Lee Berg, chief executive of Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Gem Society. Berg was cited as a revered mentor and industry leader. Woman’s Hospital was recognized by the Louisiana Hospital Association as one of three 2014 Safety Star Award recipients. Woman’s received the award for implementing Mobilab technology in inpatient areas, which improved the accuracy of patient identification, eliminated delays and decreased the need for specimen relabeling. James C. Carver, of The Carver Law Firm LLC, has been selected as a Fellow by the American Chemical Society. ACS Fellows are nominated by their peers and selected for their outstanding achievements in and contributions to the sciences/profession and for volunteer service to the ACS community. Ronald Newsome, director of Stonehenge Capital Co. LLC in Baton Rouge, is receiving the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency Access to Capital Award. The award recognizes outstanding leadership in the financial community by providing working or investment capital to minority-owned businesses. Newsome was cited for his dedication in fundraising, deal sourcing, investment evaluations and closing negotiations for community service businesses.
