Those who wish to contribute can deposit funds at St. Landry Bank under account number 10082022. Police said Kerry J. Varis, 36, was despondent over his wife’s plan to divorce him. The couple and some of their children were at a July 4 gathering with extended family when Varis used a .38-caliber handgun to shoot Nancy Varis before he killed himself. Nancy Faris died later at a hospital.
