New Iberia convenience store robbed early Tuesday

Iberia Parish Sheriff’s investigators investigated on Tuesday an early morning robbery at Jane Street convenience store.

An employee told detectives a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a white T-shirt over his head walked into the Pennywise store at 1:35 a.m. The robber was armed with a black handgun, Lt. Richard Fleming said in a news release.

After taking an undetermined amount of cash, the bandit fled on foot, Fleming said.

The robber is described as a black man, 6 feet to 6 foot, 2 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds.
