MINDFUL MEDITATION: 10 a.m., East Baton Rouge Parish Library Eden Park Branch, 5131 Greenwell Springs Road. Learn simple meditation techniques.

TWILIGHT TOURS: 6 p.m., Baton Rouge Zoo. The evening tour includes live animal shows and snacks. Tickets are $16 for adults and teens and $13 for children, 2-12. Registration is required by visiting brzoo.org.

KENILWORTH INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE: 6:30 p.m., Kenilworth Science & Technology School, Boone Drive east of Kenilworth Parkway. The parade will honor volunteers for the American Red Cross with the Grand Marshall being the board director of the Capital Area Red Cross, Ruark Chick. THIRD OF JULY BARBECUE: 7 p.m., The Pelican House Tap Room & Whiskey Bar, 2572 Citiplace Blvd. Come enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs at the second annual Third of July Barbecue. AIDA: 7:30 p.m., Manship Theatre, Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St. New Venture Theatre will present Elton John and Time Rice’s AIDA, a modern musical about the bond between an enslaved Nubian princess and an Egyptian soldier.
