Deputies search for missing girl in St. James Parish

The St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 12-year-old girl who disappeared from her St. James community home Tuesday morning.

Talaija Dorsey, 12, was discovered missing about 7 a.m. when a friend came to pick her up for summer camp. When Talaija’s mother went to get her, she found that her daughter was not in her bedroom, St. James Sheriff’s Maj. Sid Berthelot said.

“We’re not ruling anything out,” Berthelot said about the girl’s disappearance.

Talaija wore a pink shirt to bed the previous night. She is black, 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds.

Anyone with information that can assist in helping local authorities find Talaija may call (225) 562-2200.
