State Sen. Neil Riser said Monday he plans to skip a second bid for the U. S. 5th Congressional District seat.
“I feel like right now I can do more in the state,” Riser said.
Riser, who lives in Columbia, said earlier that he was considering the race for the post now held by fellow Republican Vance McAllister, who he lost to earlier this year.
But Riser said after discussing another possible run with his family and others he decided to stay put.
Riser said his polling numbers were encouraging.
“It leaves a potential for the future,” he said.
