Advocate staff report June 21, 2014 Comments LAFAYETTE — Three people in a downtown bar were injured early Sunday from one or more shots fired by an unidentified man who is suspected of shooting at unoccupied cars on nearby Grant Street minutes after the bar incident, police said. Lafayette police patrolling on Jefferson Street responded to a shots-fired call at 2 a.m., and arrived at Shakers Nightclub to find two women and a man injured. The man and one of the women were treated at a hospital and released, while the second female refused medical treatment, Cpl. Paul Mouton said Monday. By the time police arrived at the club, the gunman had fled, then at 2:15 a.m. heard the shots on Grant Street. “Multiple vehicles were discovered to have been struck by the gunfire” on Grant Street, Mouton said in a news release. Surveillance cameras captured video of a black man firing one shot inside the bar, Mouton said. Detectives on Monday morning were looking for the man in the video, and also a motive for the shooting. An investigation is ongoing, Mouton said.
