Home invasion victim shoots suspect Home invasion victim shoots suspect Advocate staff report| June 20, 2014 Comments NEW IBERIA -- The victim of a home invasion gained control of an intruder’s rifle and shot him, the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office said on Saturday. Deputies were called about 11:55 p.m. Friday to a residence in the 300 block of Fontelieu Driver in New Iberia, says a news release from Lt. Richard Fleming. Deputies learned that three men entered the residence, where three adults and two children were inside. One of the men inside the home struggled with suspect Darteze Jack, got control of the rifle and shot him, the release says. Jack, 25, Lake Charles, was found in the residence and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette in serious condition. Arrest warrants have been issued for Jack on counts of home invasion and attempted first-degree murder, Fleming’s release says. Patrol deputies found one of the other suspects, Devon Moore, 19, 1234 Field St., New Iberia, when they stopped a vehicle n Brianna Drive that fit the description a suspect was driving. Deputies booked Moore on counts of home invasion and attempted first-degree murder. The last suspect ran from the vehicle that Moore was in on Brianna Drive, and is still on the loose, the release says. Deputies recovered a hand gun and a rifle, thought to have belonged to the suspects, the release says. Fleming urged anyone with information to contact detectives at (337) 369-3711.
