Narcotics detectives find drugs, money in home; woman arrested

Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a Gonzales-area woman Wednesday on intent to distribute narcotics and other counts after finding heroin, cocaine, marijuana, other drugs and $6,100 in her home.

Sheriff’s narcotics detectives searched the woman’s home Wednesday at 41060 Turo Lane, Gonzales, to investigate reports of drug activity, deputies said in a news release Thursday.

Detectives found prescription pills, a half-pound of marijuana, 10.9 grams of cocaine, 3 grams of heroin, 25 packs of synthetic marijuana, a digital scale and the cash, deputies said.

Shandolan Carey, 36, 41060 Turo Lane, Gonzales, was booked into Ascension Parish Detention Center near Donaldsonville with 16 counts of possession with intent to distribute various kinds of illegal and prescription drugs, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a person younger than 17 and possession of drug paraphernalia, deputies said.

Carey’s child was home at the time of the search and was given to a family member. Bail has been set at $372,844.50, deputies said.
