Access to Blind River closed at Marvin Braud Pump Station Access to Blind River closed at Marvin Braud Pump Station Advocate file photo by BILL FEIG -- A pump at the Marvin J. Braud Pumping Station moves as part of a system that drains a 76-mile area of southeast Ascension Parish. Advocate staff report June 10, 2014 Comments Don’t expect to take a boat to the Blind River through a gate at the Marvin Braud Pump Station. Boating access is closed until further notice due to elevated water levels, Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez announced Thursday. According to press release, officials with the parish’s drainage department said water levels from last week’s major rain event continue to fall at the station, but are not low enough to open boating access from Sevario Canal, New River Canal, Bayou Francois and Smith Bayou to Blind River. Officials said another news release will be sent out when boating access at the pump station is opened.
