St. Martin corrections officer booked on malfeasance

St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested one of their own Tuesday, booking a corrections officer on multiple counts of wrongdoing at the jail.

Marshall Babineaux Jr., 22, was booked on one count each of malfeasance in office and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and two counts of introduction of contraband in a penal institution, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

Babineaux, of Breaux Bridge, had been a corrections officer since August. By Tuesday afternoon, no bail had been set, the release says.
