Lafayette schools prepare for summer meal program for needy

Some Lafayette Parish school sites will be open this summer for lunch as part of a federal program that ensures low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals while school is out of session.

While the program is designed for low-income children, free meals are available to all children younger than 18, as well as adults identified by the state as mentally or physically disabled.

Registration is not necessary.

Below is a listing of the school sites and times and days of lunch service:

  • Evangeline Elementary: 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 2 to June 27.
  • Carencro Middle: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 2 to July 18 (closed July 4)
  • Paul Breaux Middle: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 2 to July 25 (closed June 30 to July 4)
  • J.W. James Elementary: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 2 to July 25 (closed July 4)
  • L.J. Alleman Middle: 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 4 to July 2
  • Ernest Gallet Elementary: 10:30 am to noon June 5 to June 26
  • N.P. Moss Preparatory: 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 5 to June 26
  • Edgar Martin Middle: 10:55 am to 11:20 am June 5 to July 2
  • Broadmoor Elementary: 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 6 to June 25
