Ascension deputies arrest suspect in string of burglaries Ascension deputies arrest suspect in string of burglaries River Parishes bureau May 23, 2014 Comments GONZALES — Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a Gonzales man accused of burglarizing three houses in the Bayou Grand South subdivision earlier this week in the morning hours — while residents were home. Damon Delmore, 36, 1208 W. Penn St., Gonzales, fled one home in the Gonzales-area neighborhood as deputies arrived at 6 a.m. Tuesday and then broke into two more houses before he was caught, deputies said. Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Tony Bacala said Delmore also pushed two elderly residents down inside their homes during the string of burglaries, though the residents were not seriously injured. When deputies caught up with Delmore, he had a glass smoking pipe in his possession, Bacala said in a news release Thursday. He said that Delmore was arrested on single counts of home invasion, trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts each of simple burglary and simple battery of the elderly. Delmore was booked into Ascension Parish Detention Center near Donaldsonville Tuesday and remained in jail Thursday on bail of $130,639, Bacala said. Deputies are still investigating the incidents.
