Police: Man says pot found not his; Declares drug of choice is crack

A 64-year-old Morgan City man suspected of dealing drugs denied the marijuana-filled plastic bag found in his home was his, telling officers that pot was not his drug of choice, officials said.

Detectives in a narcotics investigation late Tuesday and early Wednesday searched James Parker’s Roderick Street home and found the large cellophane bag of marijuana, Morgan City Police Capt. James Blair said in a news release.

“Parker denied knowledge of the substance (marijuana), saying that he was a crack cocaine user only,” Blair said.

Parker was booked into the Morgan City jail at 2 a.m. Wednesday on one count each of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
