Firefighters to visit farmers market

Firefighters with the Lafayette Fire Department will offer free CPR demonstrations and tours of a working firetruck at 10 a.m. Saturday during Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market at the Horse Farm.

The market runs from 8 a.m. to noon and also features a Cajun music jam from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with musicians Courtney Granger and Drew Simon, of the Pine Leaf Boys.

The firefighters’ visit is to raise awareness about Be a Heartstarter! — a bystander CPR training event planned May 3 at the Cajundome.

Arts Center offers festival ‘potty passes’

The Acadiana Center for the Arts offers two more reasons for folks to drop into its galleries during Festival International de Louisiane — $5 all-day access to its restrooms and a pop-up coffeehouse courtesy of The Lab Handcrafted Coffee & Comforts.

The nonprofit arts center will be selling $5 wristbands for access to its restrooms, and the potty pass also is complimentary with any purchase from The Lab.

Festival International de Louisiane began Wednesday night and continues through Sunday.
