Police Capt. Ronald Norman said in an overnight email that officers found one victim at 9253 Avis Street “suffering from serious gunshot wounds to his left side.” Two other victims at 1613 Leonard Street sustained injuries that were not life threatening and a fourth person, also described as a victim, was not injured. At the scene of the shootings on Avis Avenue, a car that appeared to have been shot up sat in the driveway of a house at the corner of Avis Avenue and Mary Ellen Drive. Yellow evidence markers were scattered on Mary Ellen and continuing down Avis as detectives and crime scene technicians with the Baton Rouge police department worked the scene. Investigators did not yet have a motive in the case, Norman said.
