UL Lafayette’s Alumni Association Spring Gala on Saturday

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Association will hold its annual Spring Gala Saturday, honoring Louisiana lobbyist and alumnus Randy K. Haynie for his support of the university and community.

The gala, held on the grounds of the Alumni Center, 600 E. St. Mary Blvd., begins at 6:30 p.m. and will feature food, entertainment and silent and live auctions.

All proceeds go toward maintaining and improving the Alumni Center.

Haynie is president of Haynie & Associates, a lobbying and government relations firm he established in 1980.

His client list includes Altria Corporate Services, JPMorgan Chase, General Electric, General Motors, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and the New Orleans Saints.

The 1978 graduate became involved in politics when he served on the Student Government Association at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, along with several other university committees and organizations.

After earning his bachelor’s degree, Haynie became an assistant sergeant-at-arms for the Louisiana Senate, then a personal aide of former state Sen. Edgar “Sonny” Mouton.

Haynie is president of the National Association of State Lobbyists and also serves on several nonprofit boards, along with the Ogden Museum of Southern Art board of trustees and the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities board of directors.
