Arrest made in College Drive bank robbery

A man walked into the Capital One Bank on College Drive Thursday afternoon, handed the bank teller a note demanding money and then showed the teller a gun before taking money and running off, according to Baton Rouge Police. The man walked into the bank at 1:53 p.m. and left in an unknown direction on College Drive. He is described as a black man, late 40s to early 50s, skinny to medium build. The man was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes, black frame glasses and a purple knit cap. Anyone with information about the man is asked to call the Armed Robbery Office at 389-3845 or Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.

Baton Rouge Police arrested a 56-year-old man accused of robbing a Capital One Bank on College Drive Thursday.

Luther Smith, 2360 Balis Drive, was arrested and booked into Parish Prison on one count of armed robbery around 11 p.m. Thursday after Crime Stoppers received a tip late in the evening.

The robbery occurred at just before 2 p.m. when a man walked into the bank, handed a bank teller a note demanding money and showed a gun he had tucked into the waistband of his pants. He took an undisclosed amount of money before running out of the bank.
