EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH SCHOOL BOARD WORKSHOP: 5 p.m., Central Office, 1050 S. Foster Drive.

ARTSFEST: 11 a.m., Baton Rouge Community College, 201 Community College Drive. The theme for the sixth annual event is “Community,” and it will feature a variety of artistic disciplines. French poetry and a dance will be presented from 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.; printmaking and set designers from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; a discussion by film writer and director Mark Landry from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; a concert by Erin Moses and Pacifico from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and “The Journey of a Dance: From Classic Indiana Dance to Flamenco” at 6 p.m. Admission is free.

BATON ROUGE PRESS CLUB: 11:30 a.m., Iberville Room, Belle of Baton Rouge Hotel, 102 France St. Gifford Briggs, vice president of the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association, will discuss oil, gas and pipeline companies. Lunch, which is served at 11:30 a.m., is $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and the news media are allowed to ask questions.

ARGENTINE TANGO LESSONS AND DANCING: 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Manship Theatre, 100 Lafayette St. Learn the fundamentals of tango for free. An intermediate lesson will follow for $5. Open dancing and practice will be from 8:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.

KEVIN SHORT BASS-BARITONE RECITAL: 7:30 p.m., School of Music Recital Hall, LSU campus. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for faculty/staff/students and seniors.
