Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., a police spokesman, said Brandon Boyd, 17, 12301 La Margie Ave., did not make a statement to detectives when he turned himself in at the East Baton Rouge Violent Crimes Unit at State Police Headquarters on Independence Boulevard. Boyd was booked into Parish Prison on counts of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon, prison records show. One other person, a 19-year-old man, was shot in the arm, but his injuries were not serious. The shooting occurred at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday at 12625 La Margie. Police have said a large crowd, including Myles and Boyd, had gathered in a parking lot to watch four people, including the 19-year-old victim, fight. At some point during the fight, Boyd pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots into the large crowd, striking Myles and the 19-year-old, police have said. Boyd fired randomly into the crowd, police have said. Both Myles and the other victim were transported to a hospital where Myles died. Boyd knew two of the people involved in the fight, according to police.
