The award is presented to an individual who has consistently exemplified the highest standards of professional excellence throughout his or her career in the vending, coffee service or food service management industry and who has inspired others. Since 2006, Whitener has been the CEO of Refreshment Solutions, a company with 4,000 machines serving 35,000 customers each day. BATON ROUGE AREA Cajun Constructors Inc. was one of 19 firms to receive the Associated General Contractors of America’s Alliant Build America Award, citing the company’s Westwego Bayou Segnette Complex as one of the most significant construction projects of 2013. The complex was built to reinforce a section of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer’s Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System, which provides protection from a 100-year storm for the entire New Orleans area. ISC Constructors was honored by Associated Builders and Contractors with Eagle Awards for its Hydrogen SMR and Compression Project in St. Charles Parish in the electrical-industrial $2 million to $10 million category and for its Hazard and Effects Management Process Tank Overfill and Reliability Project in Deer Park, Texas, in the electrical-industrial less than $2 million category. ISC also received a Pyramid Award for the Ammonia Restart Project in Geismar in the electrical-industrial $2 million to $10 million category and earned a National Safety Pinnacle Award. Dr. John Wyble, executive director of LouisianaChildren.org, earned the Certified Association Executive credential from the American Society of Association Executives. The designation is based on a minimum three years’ experience in nonprofit administration, completing a minimum 100 hours of specialized professional development, passing an examination in association management and pledging to uphold a code of ethics. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration awarded the LSU College of Engineering leadership team a Group Achievement Award for its work with the National Center for Advanced Manufacturing. The award is presented to any combination of government and/or nongovernment individuals for an outstanding accomplishment that contributes substantially to NASA’s mission. NCAM, housed at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, supports aerospace manufacturing research, development and innovation in partnership with NASA, the state of Louisiana, LSU and the University of New Orleans. Zehnder Communications won 10 international Telly awards for its 2013 work. They included four top-prize silver Tellys for its work with Gulf Coast Seafood and The Times-Picayune-NOLA.com and six bronze awards for its work with Farmers’ Insurance, Burger King, Hyatt Regency Chicago, Visit Baton Rouge and The Times-Picayune-NOLA.com. The Telly Awards honors the best local, regional and cable-television commercials and programs, as well as the best video and film productions and work created for the Web. LAFAYETTE AREA Farmer’s Merchants Bank & Trust, FM Bank, received the Louisiana Economic Development Corp. Bank of The Year Award for its exceptional participation in the State Small Business Credit Initiative Loan Guaranty Program. FM Bank’s financial assistance to 10 small businesses totaled over $4 million, and the LEDC/SSBCI guaranty associated with these loans was over $3 million.
