GOVERNMENT MEETING

  • CITY-PARISH PLANNING COMMISSION: 9 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., City Hall, 222 Saint Louis St. The commission will meet in the Metro Council Chambers to interview finalists for the position of planning director.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

  • RED STICK FARMERS MARKET: 8 a.m. to noon, Main Street Market, 501 Main St. Local farmers and artisans will be available with fruits, vegetables, Angus beef, poultry, eggs, dairy products, baked goods, flowers, plants, wines and more.
  • ROCKIN’ AT THE SWAMP: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., BREC’s Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, 10503 N. Oak Hills Parkway. The fifth annual event will include activities and displays about rocks, gemstones, minerals and fossils. It will also include a rock climbing wall, exhibits, pet rocks and more. Admission is $4 for ages 2 to 17, $5 for adults and $2 for BSNC pass holders. Ages 2 and younger are free.
  • HABITAT HOME EXPO: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Baton Rouge River Center, 275 S. River Road. Learn new ideas, investigate products and network. Bring your plans, photographs and drawings. (225) 769-7696.
  • ART IN THE PARK: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., City-Brooks Community Park, 1515 Dalrymple Drive. Local painters, dancers and expressive performers will be present. Admission is free. (225) 383-1470.
