A 20-year-old Mamou man died Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident on La. 748 in St. Landry Parish, State Police said.
Dustin Cole, 20, was driving a Ford F-150 pickup westbound on La. 748, east of Ville Platte near La. 363, when his truck briefly left the road entering a left curve, causing Cole to overcorrect and roll the truck, Trooper First Class Stephen Hammons said in a news release.
Cole wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the truck in the crash, which happened about 2:30 p.m., Hammons said.
The St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Cole dead at the scene of the crash.
Investigators suspect that alcohol was a factor in the crash and troopers collected toxicology samples for further analysis, Hammons said.
