Suspect arrested in two Robert area business burglaries

Tangipahoa Parish sheriff’s deputies on Thursday arrested a 27-year-old man accused of burglarizing two businesses in the Robert area, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said Friday.

Darryl James Perrin, of Ponchatoula, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on two counts of burglary, spokeswoman Dawn Panepinto said in a news release.

Perrin is accused of burglarizing the Ole Post Office Pizza and Daiquiris on La. 445 on Wednesday and stealing a safe containing $1,600 and banking information from the Kids Haven Child Care and Preschool on R. Harper Road on Thursday, Panepinto said.

A man, believed to be Perrin, was seen on surveillance footage burglarizing the pizza restaurant, Panepinto said.

The child care center’s bank later contacted center officials and said someone, later identified as Perrin, was attempting to cash a fake check using their account, Panepinto said.

Two other people with Perrin at the time of his arrest — Cecil John Norman, 42, of Ponchatoula; and Russell Dean Morse, 44, of Robert — were arrested on various drug counts after deputies found them in possession of marijuana and other illegal narcotics, Panepinto said.

Norman and Morse are being questioned as possible suspects in the burglaries, Panepinto said.
