Legislative breakfast focused on education

Power of Public Education Lafayette, a new education advocacy group, will hold a legislative breakfast from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Lafayette Science Museum, 433 Jefferson St.

The free event is an opportunity for the public to discuss with legislators issues such as privatization, the school accountability system, teacher retention and implementation of the Common Core State Standards and how the issues affect Lafayette Parish, the group’s president, Kathleen Espinoza, said in a news release.

“This event will provide an opportunity to identify problems and challenges and to discuss possible solutions to make our public school system stronger,” Espinoza said.

The event is free, but seating is limited, so guests should reserve a seat by emailing: ppelafayette@gmail.com.
