One woman was in serious condition Tuesday after she was involved in a three-vehicle accident at Plank and Thomas roads that included an 18-wheeler briefly catching fire.
Parts of Plank were closed most of the afternoon and into the night as crews cleaned up the wreckage and diesel fuel that leaked onto the road.
The road was reopened at about 8:30 p.m.
Details were unavailable Tuesday night about what caused the accident.
The driver of the GMC Yukon had to be extricated with the Jaws of Life extraction device and was rushed to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, said Carroll Campbell, chief of the Brownsfield Fire Department.
“That was really a bad accident,” Campbell said.
State Police spokesman Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer said the accident occurred at about 1:50 p.m.
The other two vehicles involved were an 18-wheeler and a small red car.
