Awards are presented annually to companies that have demonstrated significant achievements in the areas of corporate growth, corporate development or mergers and acquisitions. The six award categories are outstanding corporate growth, emerging growth company, deal of the year, young deal maker of the year, deal maker of the year and lifetime achievement award. Franchise business exposition planned METAIRIE — A free business expo on franchises will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 21 on the University of New Orleans Jefferson Campus, 3330 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie. The event is co-sponsored by the Jefferson Economic Development Council and the Louisiana Small Business Development Center – Greater New Orleans. Nearly a dozen franchisors and related organizations will join FranNet Louisiana to present business opportunities in the automotive, commercial building maintenance, financial, floor coverings, graphics/signage, marketing, commercial and residential cleaning, and staffing sectors. Iron Tribe Fitness opens on St. Joseph NEW ORLEANS — Iron Tribe Fitness has opened a 6,000-square-foot facility in the Warehouse District, 733 St. Joseph St., between Carondolet Street and Saint Charles Avenue. ITF New Orleans is owned by Kerry and Kate Jenkins. Kate Jenkins, a graduate of Loyola University, also owns a Bikram yoga studio in Birmingham, Ala. Kerry Jenkins played football for LSU and is a former National Football League player. Iron Tribe Fitness started in a garage in 2009 in Birmingham, Ala., and opened its first brick-and-mortar location in 2010. The company has six corporate-owned gyms in Birmingham and 57 franchise locations.
