Around 1:50 a.m., the burglar attempted to open a safe in the restaurant, but failed, and fled without stealing anything, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman. Investigators describe the burglar as a black man who wore a gray shirt, white pants, a red-hooded jacket and black tennis shoes, Hicks said. Firefighters rescue stuck window washer St. George firefighters rescued a window washer Wednesday morning whose washing rig became stuck on the fifth floor of the building at 8555 United Plaza Blvd., just off Essen Lane. The first two firetrucks arrived at 10:41 a.m. and found that the rig, called a bosun’s chair, had jammed, spokesman Eldon Ledoux said. After a ladder truck arrived with a ladder capable of extending up to 107 feet, a firefighter climbed up to the stranded worker, attached the worker’s safety harness to the ladder and helped him down, Ledoux said. “Although no special or technical rescue techniques were utilized, the equipment and personnel on scene were capable of such a rescue, if needed,” Ledoux said. Four accused of driving while intoxicated Authorities arrested at least two people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Monday and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, booking records show. Those booked and the counts against them: Elmo Harts, 40, 3204 Singletary Drive, Baker, first-offense DWI and improper lane usage. Estelle Maiden, 38, 3609 Evangeline St., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI and reckless operation.
