Lafayette police seek information on bank robber

Lafayette police are looking for a man who wore a surgical mask and held a blue-and-white umbrella when he robbed a bank in the 3900 block of West Congress Street on Monday, police said.

Bank employees said a masked black man wearing a light-colored jacket and long dark pants walked into the bank, which was not identified, at 10:50 a.m., Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a release.

The man gave a teller a note demanding money, Mouton said.

“The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled on foot from the bank, north into the neighborhoods,” Mouton said.

No one was reported injured. Detectives are urging anyone with information to contact Lafayette police or Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-TIPS.
