Baton Rouge-based Yellow Jacket, which makes a smartphone case stun gun, has caught the attention of at least one major media outlet, although the article on Slate.com falls more under the no-such-thing-as-bad-publicity banner.

The Yellow Jacket is included in Slate’s Future Tense column about sketchy iPhone cases.

“With all of the single-use gadgets out there, like fitness monitors and rice cookers, a person gets to wishing that she could just have her stun gun baked right into her smartphone. Convenience is king. And the Yellow Jacket iPhone case is the next best thing to a completely integrated stun gun,” the tongue-in-cheek article says.

The article goes on to say that the rubber case’s battery can be used for extra iPhone power in addition to its real purpose: “giving baddies what-for.”
