At City Hall, special presentations will be made, and live music and refreshments will be available as part of the celebration.

Holiday delays trash, recycling schedule

LAFAYETTE — Trash and recycling collections are a day later this week due to the New Year’s holiday on Wednesday.

Customers who receive garbage and recycling services Wednesday through Friday will receive collection the day after their regularly scheduled service day.

Excess garbage collection service will be available. Customers should place garbage that doesn’t fit in the automated cart in a bag and place it on the ground. Large boxes empty of everything except the original packing material also may be left on the ground. Items placed on the ground must be 3 feet from the cart.

Natural Christmas trees also can be placed curbside and will be collected if totally clean of all lights, tinsel and ornaments. The trees also may be dropped off at the compost facility at no charge.

Artificial trees are considered bulky waste and will only be picked up on the customer’s designated bulky waste service day. For more information on the bulky waste collection schedule, call (337) 291-8529.
